The on-site part of our faculty's second Erasmus+ Blended Intensive Program (BIP) project was organized between July 14 and 18, 2025. This is an international opportunity for students and teachers to complete an entire course within one week and a few online sessions. An important condition of this type of program is that the course must include both online and in-person elements.
The theme of the Without Barriers: Inclusion for all in sport BIP is adapted physical education and sport. The 16 participating students came from Estonia (Tallinn University), Finland (University of Jyväskylä), Oldenburg (Carl von Ossietzky University Oldenburg) and Dortmund (TU Dortmund) in Germany, and a colleague from Portugal (NOVA FCSH) also joined us as a participant. The participants had very diverse academic backgrounds, but they shared a passion for sports and an interest in involving people with disabilities in sports activities. During the program, they not only gained theoretical knowledge, but also had many personal experiences, as they were able to try out various adapted sports. On Monday, the focus was on sitting volleyball, on Tuesday on boccia, and on Wednesday, thanks to the Suhanj! Foundation, they had the opportunity to try tandem cycling and a short functional training session in a completely dark room. To conclude the practical part of the week, Szabolcs Forgács introduced the participants to goalball, and they then competed against each other in a mini tournament.
In addition to the students, Professor Andrea Erdélyi from Carl von Ossietzky University Oldenburg joined us again, bringing the topic of augmentative and alternative communication closer to the participants with her lectures entitled How to communicate without words: when athletes use aided communication methods and Orientation aids for the self-determination of athletes with intellectual disabilities. In addition to Professor Erdélyi's lectures, Rita Hoffmann and Mária Flamich added color to the program: the film Best of Men, about the life of Dr. Ludwigh Guttmann, was screened and analyzed during the week.
The main organizers of the program, Dr. Katalin Tóthné Kälbli, Dr. Judit Gombás, and Gréta Kövecses would like to thank all their colleagues who helped make the program a success!
