Dr. Lilla Zakariás, assistant professor in the Speech and Language Therapy Department at the Bárczi Gusztáv Faculty of Special Needs Education at ELTE, has been awarded the prestigious Fulbright Visiting Scholar Scholarship.

As part of the scholarship, she will spend three months during the 2026–2027 academic year with the research group at the Eleanor M. Saffran Cognitive Neuroscience Center’s Aphasia Rehabilitation Research Lab at Temple University in Philadelphia, United States.

The title of her research project is “Theory-guided analysis of spoken discourse in post-stroke aphasia.” The goal of the project is to develop, based on the latest international research findings, a testing protocol that enables the reliable assessment of everyday narrative language abilities in post-stroke aphasia.

The Fulbright Visiting Scholar Program is one of the United States’ best-known international academic exchange programs, providing research or teaching opportunities at U.S. institutions of higher education for approximately 850 researchers and university faculty members each year. In recent years, the program has had 25–30 Hungarian participants annually. The scholarship is awarded on a country-by-country basis through a competitive application process, following a professional review.
