Dr. Judit Gombás, a faculty member at Bárczi, attended the 2nd ICEVI Africa Conference in Johannesburg from September 29 to October 3, 2026, as well as the subsequent international executive meeting.

The conference was organized by the African region of the International Council for Education of People with Visual Impairment (ICEVI). As a global network, ICEVI works to promote access to inclusive, equitable, and high-quality education for children and adults who are visually impaired, deaf-blind, or have multiple disabilities. The organization’s key objectives include supporting inclusive education policies, strengthening professional capacities, and sharing knowledge and best practices internationally.

The event, titled “Towards 2030: Actualizing Inclusion, Innovation, and Impact in the Education of Persons with Visual Impairment,” focused on inclusive, innovative, and impactful approaches to the education of people with visual impairments.

Dr. Judit Gombás participated in the event as the European regional representative for ICEVI Europe. At the conference, she presented the results of her research examining the experiences of students with visual impairments enrolled in doctoral programs in Hungary. Following the conference, she also attended the ICEVI international executive board meeting.

Dr. Judit Gombás has served as the regional coordinator for Central European countries at ICEVI-Europe since May 2025, and in her current role, she also serves as the regional representative for ICEVI-Europe. Her research interests focus, among other things, on issues related to the living conditions of adults with visual impairments, rehabilitation, and adapted physical activity.
