Participatory teaching careers in higher education
A study on participatory teaching has been recently published in the British Journal of Learning Disabilities by our colleagues, Anikó Sándor, Csilla Cserti-Szauer, András Futár and György Könczei.

In accordance with the provisions of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, people with disabilities are entitled to engage in all decisions that have an impact on their lives, whether in the context of legislation, policy, or practice. The academic world is no exception. The authors present their teaching activities as part of an inclusive academic team and their reflections on societal challenges as higher education actors.

In their study, the authors describe their collaborative approach to education, which involves disabled and nondisabled teachers adapting their participatory higher education methodology ’Together We Teach’ to other helping professions, like pedagogy and theology besides special needs education.

The authors are grateful to the ELTE University Excellence Fund, the Bárczi Gusztáv Faculty of Special Needs Education and the Erasmus+ programme for their support in writing and publishing the study.

The authors would like to express their gratitude to Professor Jan Walmsley, who has provided invaluable support and feedback for this study over many years.
