Main research areas
Examination of functionality of persons with cerebral palsy
My main field of research is the development of movements, everyday functions, special need education/somatopedagogic education of persons with cerebral palsy (CP). I am primarily involved in modern assessment of actually movement and health status and measurement of changes, which is sufficiently informative for practice. Early brain damage can usually affect cognition processes, movement, intelligence, sensation, perception, behaviour and the development of these from birth. In addition to the studies carried out by the external observer, I consider it important to have the opinion and self-assessment of the CP persons and their relatives, as well as the methods of analysis that can be used for this purpose, in particular the classifications recommended by the WHO, which measure the functionality (ICF) and quality of life (QoL).
