The Institute for Disability and Social Participation (IDaSP), the Disability Studies Doctoral Workshop of ELTE Eötvös Loránd University, Faculty of Special Needs Education and the Disability Studies Section of the Hungarian Sociological Association will hold the Sixth Disability Studies Conference 13 November 2018 under the title

"Diversity as a Social Value?"

Despite its fashionable over-use, diversity is still a significant concept. While being the topic of long-standing professional discussions, disagreements and misinterpretations, it invites participants to formulate a number of questions on various forms of Otherness, the potential processes of separation/segregation and their consequences. While examining aspects of diversity-preservation, the conference also wishes to offer a common platform for interdisciplinary dialogue on issues of diversity, normality and disability.
